Like most movies filmed in LA, Rock Star also used a few staged in Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank, California. During one of their concerts, you might recognize the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum used as a venue for their tour. Some of the driving scenes as the band members go on bus tours were shot on Highway 2 in Waterville, Washington. You’ll also see a shot of the Chateau Marmont at 8221 Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, California. If this landmark is familiar to you, that’s because it’s been used in many movies and TV shows, including X-Men (2000), Rush Hour (1998), Indecent Proposal (1993), Prison Break (2005), and more. One of the prominent Rock Star locations in the film is the magnificent Greystone Mansion & Gardens. However, when he receives a call from Kirk Cuddy (Dominic West), the guitarist and founding member of the fictional heavy rock metal band Steel Dragon, Chris flies to Los Angeles with his girlfriend, Emily (Jennifer Aniston). It starts in Pittsburgh, which is Chris’ home. This 2001 musical comedy-drama movie is set in Pittsburgh in the 80s, but the Rock Star production mainly took place in Los Angeles and Seattle, Washington. Throughout the film, you see their struggle to stay connected and, most importantly, witness how a man transitions from ordinary life to being one of the world’s greatest rock stars. Rock Star also features drama, with Chris Cole’s fame taking a toll on his lifestyle emotionally and romantically with his long-time girlfriend, Emily. After seeing Chris’ performance from a fan-made video, he was impressed at how closely he resembled their former singer in vocals and appearance. The following events then show Chris receiving a phone call from Steel Dragon’s rhythm guitarist to be the replacement.
